Birthday Cake For Your Pet (with tips).

Your little friend’s birthday is around the corner and you want to surprise them with a birthday cake. On the other hand, you do not want to hurt your pet as many ingredients that are delicious for us are toxic for them. Doggie’s birthdays are becoming very common and trendy as dogs are now considered part of the family and treated as one, but some people lack knowledge about what is good for their pets and what is not.

Suddenly baking a cake goes from enjoyable to brain teaser rapidly. Do not worry; we are here to help you bake a delicious, safe cake that your little friend will adore. Have I mentioned that it is made with simple ingredients that you may already have around? Great – let’s start…

  3. Two tablespoons of vegetable oil.
  4. Two tablespoons of peanut butter.
  5. Half cup applesauce.

For frosting:

  1. Half cup plain Greek yogurt.
  2. Two tablespoons of peanut butter.

Instruction:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Combine flour and baking soda in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Combine the vegetable oil, peanut butter, applesauce, and pumpkin puree in a separate bowl.
  4. Once everything is mixed, add the egg and stir until everything is well blended.
  5. Stir together the wet and dry ingredients until they are well mixed.
  6. Pour the ingredients into an 8″ round pan coated with oil (a square pan can also be used).
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean and the cake springs back slightly when lightly touched.
  8. Allow the cake to cool completely on a wire rack before removing it from the pan.
  9. If desired, frost the cake once it has cooled.

Tips:

  1. Be cautious when using peanut butter. Some of them contain xylitol which can be toxic for dogs, you can use a brand that does not contain xylitol, or you can substitute peanut butter with almond butter that is completely toxic-free for your furry friend.
  2. When choosing your applesauce, try one that is organic as applesauce is most of the time filled with tons of sugar, additives and preservatives.
  3. I recommend using whole wheat flour. It is the perfect choice for your dog and you can use it to make some at-home treats for them too.
  4. Use a pumpkin sauce that contains no spice or high levels of sugar.
  5. You can use a bar of pet-friendly chocolate (yes, it exists) if you can find one.
  6. For some sweetness, you may add some natural honey. (Do not add sugar, that is not good for dogs)
  7. You can use whip cream but be sure to use a sugar-free one.

To make the cake more nutritious, and also look appealing. You may want to add some toppings.

Here’s a list of toppings that are suitable for dogs: Blueberries, bananas, apples, cranberries but also peaches.

Be cautious not to feed your dog cake too often. Too much peanut butter or whole wheat flour may harm them.

You should know that this cake is suitable for us too. If you do not mind have an unsweetened cake, then you can share your dog’s birthday cake. I personally like it; it just depends upon your taste.

You may want to talk to a nutritionist to be reassured but believe me each year, my dog gives this cake a 10/10. If you have any other tips for a dog birthday cake, feel free to leave them down in the comments. Thank you.
